Question regarding back-up for Fostex multi-tracks

As stated on several earlier posts, I have a Fostex DMT-8vl. The 8vl uses a system whereby you can back-up all 8 tracks of a program to stereo DAT (It stores the tracks as sequential stereo pairs, with markers that allow for uploading all fully separated tracks). Does anyone know if any of the other Fostex multi-tracks are compatible with this system? I want to know if I upgrade, let's say to an FD-8 or a VR800, will these newer models be able to upload the data stored on DAT from the 8vl? Please let me know if you know anything about this.

I have the same problem.. I have filled my hard drive with songs and I want more...

Last Time I went to a recording studio and dumpped all the tracks onto ADAT for later mixdown. This time I am going to buy my own ADAT recorder to do this. It's expensive but now I will have unlimited storage.
