I recently encountered a problem with my FD-4 & Zip drive 250 combination where I was getting big pieces of missing data - no dead air, no silence, just missing sound - when using this combination along with 100MB disks.
Fostex tech support has told me that the problem comes from using 100MB disks in the 250MB drive, and, while I haven't verified this yet, it seems to make sense. The 100 just can't keep up in the 250 drive.
So, the 100MB disks are cheaper, and more readily compatible with (my) other drive bays, but they just won't work in the 250 drive in this application.
