ok so i record all my individual tracks... then i do edit - mixdown all waves. why does the volume decrease on the mixdown and how can increase it without actually affecting the sound?

It shouldn't decrease in volume when you mix down all the tracks. If anything it should stay the same because all you are doing is making all the tracks one file, so it should be the same volume as when playing all the tracks in multitrack view.

Maybe the master volume?

To increase try compression or limiting.

Tukkis is right about mixdowns being the same volume level as the multitrack mix. If that's happening on your system, then something's out of whack.

However, in the meantime, here's a fix. Make your mixdown. Now, when it flips into Edit View, click on Effects>Amplitude>Normalize. Enter a value in the normalize box - something like 99.98%, and then normalize the file. It'll bounce it up to max again.
