no sound

I recently installed my trusty old version of Audition on a new computer with Windows 7 on board. Everything works fine except for one thing - I can't hear a file when I play it. I thought initially that something must have been wrong elsewhere, but no, if I play a sound file via any other program I can hear it fine.

Is there a compatibility issue with Win 7, or do I need to enable something - never had to in the past. I'd be really bummed if I had to give up the program, as it's long been a favorite and it's all I need.

Can you monitor while you are recording? If not, you may have to set the program's output as your interface/soundcard through the preferences.

First of all, is this in Multi-track view, Edit view, or both? You might not have the right drivers chosen. Go to Edit, Audio Hardware Setup, choose Edit view sound encoder view, or Multi-track view and choose your sound card. Make your sound card has all the latest driver updates. Let me know what you find.
