Hey all
I'm new here to this forum, and it just seemed like a good place to get my questions answered and learn more about Cool Edit Pro. Currently, I play drums for a band, and am a student and Penn State University. I have Cool Edit Pro, think it's awesome, but I did have a q question. I figured out how to reduce the hiss in the background. How do you use Noise reduction?

There are two ways to use Noise Reduction.

1 Go into Edit View>Effects>Noise Reduction and click on Help. Follow the 7-step procedure there. It works, plus you'll learn how to use the Help feature.

2 Go into Edit View

With your cursor, highlight a portion of the track with no music on it - that's your sample.

Click Effects>Noise Reduction

Click Get Profile From Selection. This takes a snapshot of the noise in the section you highlighted.

Click Save Profile. It'll ask you to name it. Call it anything, cuz you'll use it just the once on this track.

Click Close to get rid of the Noise Reduction popup.

Get rid of the highlighted portion of the track.

Load Noise Reduction again and click on Load Profile. The snapshot you took earlier will be named there. Click on Open.

Now Click OK and Cool will run the Noise Reduction on the whole track.

Voila.

See? It would have been easier to read the Help LOL.
