Sounds like maybe what you are recording is being played back through the Live's
output and then back into the input again. This causes excessive signal gain
(distortion) as well as a phase problem since technically there is some delay there
in the two signals.
I had that happen to me when I was playing with some new ideas on how to hook up
my mixer. Are you using a mixer in which you monitor through headphones?
If so, and your card is set up for full-duplex operation (most are), then you will need
to inspect your hookup and signal flow closer. Good luck...pete o
