Is Cakewalk the funk soul brother?

I've never seen Cakewalk used. I've never used it myself. How good is it? Are there glitches?

It has compressors and EQs and effects for each track, right? How good are they? I love recording but I'm real poor. I love my FD-8 studio but it seems like I've got to spend a lot of money every time I want to upgrade. Like, if I buy a new mic I gotta get a new good outboard EQ and compressor to go with it. You know the story. Is Cakewalk a miracle program for someone like me or not?
How does it rank with other programs (quality and price)?

It's not a miracle and it's going to cost money. Also a learning curve you can begin working on by checking out some of the related tutorials on the homepage and surfing through past topics posted by many people asking the same questions. Not much help am I. Dig in, it's all here.
