Let us be unburdened by that which has been ?
Yeah I know it is a cheap comglomeration of their classics, but that's what I have to listen to (my friend's older brother back circa 1980 or so had a killer Panasonic all -in-one system with the 12" three-way speakers, and we used to listen to the classic ZZ Top releases on 8-track). Man they had some good sounds in the booth. Billy Gibbons' guitar sounds....nice. Still I have to think that there is a lot to their sound, to the playing, to the final recording media that contributed to that sound. Man what a cool sound on those recordings. :) :)
BTW, back then what do you think they mastered to and on in the late '70s?

I think their playing was a good part of that sound. I saw them play live several times in the 80's and they sounded great. Billy Gibbons has a nice guitar tone.

One thing is fer sure-it had to be tape.No digital crapola back then!!
