Hi all

I've been playing guitar on and off for 30 years now (still crap), but I am totally new to home recording. Just bought a Zoom R16 in some sort of mid-life crisis episode. Dutifully read manual for half an hour before taking Zoom out of box (I think that alone shows my age). Followed instructions from manual to make a basic recording just using internal mics. Inserted SD card, switched on. Next step is press Project button which should bring up Project menu - it doesn't. What I get is a screen that says SAVE 000. The only buttons that then seem to function are the dial which changes the digits and the enter button, which takes me to a screen that says SAVE? When I hit enter again it says ERROR... As I say I am new to this, but is something wrong here? I don't want to be throwing anything out of the window yet so can anyone suggest anything, please.

Thanks

Hi Shuntley.

I also own a Zoom R16. Took me ages to get used to it. Not sure if its the same as the one you got, but my instruction manual seemed to be written by someone who didn't speak English as their first language.

Anyway, I was a little confused like you are when trying to start a new project at first. Here's what I do: Insert a blank SD card, Format the SD card (This loads a small Zoom R16 file on to it), Press the "Project" button. Since this is the first project you have recorded on your Zoom/SD card it wont open a "Project Menu" as there are no projects to load. You can only create a new project. (In future you will find an option of "load project" and "create new project" by scrolling left/right). When the save PRO000 comes up (that's what comes up on mine, but maybe yours is slightly different) you should be able to use the forward, and back arrows to scroll over the characters. The down arrow should delete a character, and the wheel should change the selected character. Press "Enter" and it should say "Save: *project name*", and pressing enter again should save the project and take you to the main screen so you can start recording.

Hope that helps.

Hi

Thanks for reply. I'm in the UK and I contacted the Zoom distributor here and they sorted it. It was so simple but as I say this is all new to me. I had inserted what I thought was the SD card but it was just the adapter. I hadn't put the micro SD card (I had been wondering what it was!) into the adapter. Simple as that. Everything fine now.

Cheers
