Hi, I'm pretty new at home recording so please forgive me if this is a dumb question.

I have a Zoom R16 machine and I want to add some reverb etc to tracks I have already recorded. I've tried to follow the instruction booklet but frankly I found it pretty baffling.:o

So, could anyone tell me how to do this? I don't have cubase up and running at the moment so I can't add the effects later in the DAW.

Please help, I'm really struggling!

Thanks. :)

This what you are going to have to do.

And you don't have to use the DAW that comes with the zoom take a look at Reaper then down load that .... you'll be much happier. ;)

You can do it inside the zoom. p. 16 of your manual (basic operations section) on how to select the send/return effect mode(in this case select reverb), p. 37 (mixing section where you get to use the menus for EQ and send/return/etc like a real mixing board) shows you how to set the individual track settings for the send and return levels, and p.45+ (effects section) has the actual effect parameters and how to edit them. I wouldn't recommend trying to edit the effects if you haven't figured out how to use the send/return yet though, just go with a preset reverb until you get the hang of the mixer.

The manual has a step by step procedural approach that runs you through each of these applications like training wheels. I have messed around with Zoom products for years and thir manuals are always like this. Just do everything in the EXACT order it says in the manual, do not skip past anything. Maybe because it's japanese, they don't think like we do or something. They wont tell you why it is set up the way it is, or what exactly it is doing, or an overview of the different areas and leave you to figure out what to do with the knowledge, they don't think you need to know how it works, they just tell you exactly which buttons to push in which order for how to do something with it. I guess we just figure out the instinctual part by doing it. If you can't follow their instructions, I doubt if you will be able to follow mine.

Cheers

Yes, I made the mistake of reading page 49 in the manual and was going in the wrong direction there.
Incidentally, I now have Cubase working anyway thanks to my Dad.
Cheers for the replies though everyone, because I might need to do it on the Zoom when I take it elsewhere.
