hello everyone..

i'm about to buy a zoom mrs1044. it's fairly cheap and has great reviews all around, but i'm still not convinced. to anybody here that owns one, can you answer a few questions i have?

how hard was it to start recording when you first got it?
how's the sound quality on the recorder, the bass & drum machines?
can you make a CD backup of the tracks you've made? how?

a brief review of the recorder would really help :)

thanks!

I've got the Zoom 1044CD - it's very easy to jump in and start recording. It's got tons of rythym patterns to build songs from, and sounds awesome. It only records at 16 bit, if that means anything to you. Creating your own patterns from the drum/bass machine is cool if you put the time in. If you don't get the CD version, you need to buy the USB card for the 1044, to transfer files to PC (you can download a "file manager" from Zoom, to convert files to .WAV for further computer editing, or to burn to CD on your PC). Since they replaced this box with the 1266, i've seen these out there dirt cheap. Check out this discussion board: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/MRS-1044.
