I have A Zoom HD16CD,and used to have Sony Acid Music Studio. I like the Sony program a lot and would like to get it again, but want to know if they are compatible before I spend the money.

On that note, should I spent the extra cash and spring for Sony Acid Pro? What are the advantages? should I be using something other than Sony Acid?

I am recording, for the most part: electric guitar, bass guitar, electric violin, and vocals. I want to use the program for drums, piano sounds, sound effects (thunder, rain, waves, etc.) and the like, mostly using the piano roll editor.

I'm new to home recording, and am trying to get the best quality for my dollar, so any advice is helpful!

Yes, Zoom HD16cd is compatible with Sony Acid- somewhat

The HD16 by zoom comes with console drivers for Cubase and Ableton Live it looks like. This enables you to move console sliders on the HD and have them move your virtual sliders on these programs. Keep in mind that any .wav files can be moved between the HD and your favorite recording program, you just won't get the console remote slider feature kicking.

Just got the HD16CD. Comes actually with Cubase software. I had worked for so long in Acid though, the Cubase is not as comfortable for me. The HD16 has a USB hookup and button on the top to switch between recording on the HD and using it as a hard drive. When you enable the mass storage USB button, the HD16 shows up as a drive on your computer and you just drag and drop the files into Acid as .wav files. Have had the HD for two days now and just loaded the whole demo tune from it onto Acid 5.0. Worked great. I imported everything into the chopper and it gives you the choice whether or not to beatmap tracks before you insert them. All of the tracks(.wav files) from a single song line up when dropped into Acid. I can see that for recording I will use the HD16, then to edit I will use Acid, and then maybe put the files back into the HD16 as it has some good mastering patches built in.

NOW... my big goal is to find out how to have the HD stereo outed to my monitors. And then hooked up to my computer through USB or MIDI, and have the Sony Acid program play on the monitors using the HD as I did with my old inbox. When I push play on Acid, it plays through my laptop speakers. I could hook the old inbox up to the other USB output on my computer and into the second Auxiliary input on the stereo (monitor), but this seems redundant. I am wondering if this can be done.
