ok im totally new to recording and not that great with computers or fancy gear either but i want to record , basically i just want to know what i need to make a start ,
my objective is to put videos up on you tube, both songs with acoustic guitar and classical guitar, the zoom h4n is the what im planning on getting , i have a computer and camcorder , what else do i need?? besides my guitars that i cant plug in i have nothing else , thanks in advance for any advice (hope this right forum) alan
 
If all you want is to simply record audio and video for a live performance, then you don't really need a lot Alan.

Really just the gear that you've listed, and some software to put it all together.

If you're on a mac Imovie is ideal for simple youtube videos. There are pc equivalents out there too.

If you want to get creative with your recorded sounds, you'd need a DAW like reaper/cubase/audacity or something.

Your time is probably better spent getting the room that you record in to sound nice. Experimenting with placement of the mic/recorder will be more important to you i think.
