Hi, whats up? I'm about to get a new microphone, most of all to record voices, I use Pro Tools M powered with Fast Track...
Lately I've tried Zoom H1 and I found it pretty interesting, but I'm not sure how it's gonna work with pro tools... also I'm not really into going outside to record stuff, so far i've done everything at home... I mean you never know, but it's not a priority. On the other hand I've been recomended to buy a classic Shure sm58. What do you think? Which one is better? Can you please help me to make a good choice?
By the way, i don't speak good english so if you don't understand something let me know. Thanks! :)

I happen to have a Zoom H1 as well as an SM58. I can say they are both completely different beasts. What type of voices would you be recording? Spoken word? Vocals? Rapping? I personally don't think the H1 would be great if you plan on doing super close proximity stuff (within 6 inches), whereas that is where the SM58 strives. However, the H1 would be much better than the SM58 if you want to use it as a room mic or a boom mic type thing (further away from the vocal source). Another thing to take into consideration is that the H1 is a stereo mic and the SM58 is a mono mic. However, you could always just pick one channel to use on the H1 if you wanted it to be mono.
