Hi,

I get a horrible hiss from my Zoom 505 sometimes, It does seem to happen when I'm near recording equipment, but when I record tracks on my PC there is a loud hum in the backround when one of the instruments is not playing. Is there any way round this? Am I still to close to something, does the amp effect this? Will I still get the hum when I start using a Tascam 424 MKIII?

Hey Nik,
I use a 505 and 505II frequently directly into a Tascam machine. I have no problem editing out any unwanted noise. I find its just a question of editing the Zoom before starting the project. I am into Metal basically, so that genre of music may make editing the zoom easier. I do know only 2 of the distortions are worth using on the 505 when recording. You may want to consider an EQ behind your 505.

There's a noise gate in ZOOM 505 (ZNR="Zoom Noise Reduction"). enable it to gate the noise out.
