I've been following all the Zoom posts in the archives - all your opinions have been a great help - as I've been trying to research my first digital multitrack recorder purchase. Just wanted to let you all know there's an excellent review of the Zoom 1608 in the January issue of SOS. The article pretty much gives the Zoom a clear edge over its most direct competition in the $1000 digitial multitrack category, the Boss BR-1600.

I just read the article, Ken. It's interesting, too, how SOS continues (heading into the thrid year) to praise the Yamaha 16g as the leader at the $1K price point in terms of the basic recording/mixing features (minus drum machines and extensive guitar modeling). It's one point worth noting for folks shopping for such a machine. A helpful article for such folks.

I have a AW16G and it's wonderful. I ton of feature, great effects, easy to use. Sound as good as any 2k plus workstation I've heard. I love how I can dump a 16 tracks at one time to as a wave file on a CD in 2 min and then load them in my DAW.

The only bad thing said is some people thinks its hard to work. I had it down in 2 days so I'm not sure way they say that.
