Hi, I wanted to show you my website that I'm working on. It's going to be for my upcoming live DEATH METAL band, Zombiism.

I've seen a lot of websites and people talking about getting website. They use these lame template design web hosts that charge 15 to 30 dollars a month for a crappy uninspiring rinky dinky bologna website.

Now as you look at my website, imagine how it'll look once all the content is added. Just how it is now you get to see the format. I used the most simple navigation so that any Internet illiterate doofus could find their way around with ease. I'll also be optimizing each page for search engines as I'm adding the content.

If I have merchandise to sell I'll be able to add simple "buy now" or "add to cart" buttons and let paypal handle the rest. All I will have to do is get my money and put the merch in the mail for my customer. Or I can link it all back to my record label if that's how I want to do it.

What I like about my website the most is that it really has some personality to it. It has that death metal attitude and it commands emotion. When you visit, it'll be thought provoking. To me that's the point of having a website. To express something instead of having a plain and simple stupid and boring website.

You know what I mean?

Awww... That's my day job.

Do you have a CMS, or are you maintaining it by tweaking the HTML manually? (I've been there before, it kind of sucks.)

The site does look pretty good though. Although, I can't read the band name at all!

The band logo says Zombiism, it's a Death Metal thing man lol.

No CMS looks like my site lol. I'm only using CSS and HTML, but the thing is I'm having a problem figuring out how to get the borders to repeat when content is added and the page gets longer. So, I changed the graphics on the sides and bottom border, but It looks kind of shitty to me now. I use to work on websites ALOT - 4 or 5 years ago and learned a lot of the SEO stuff as well, but they would be very simple designs like the Slay Zombie Newton site you showed me. The SEO part of it is also why I want to have full control over the coding of each page. I used a lot of content management systems as well that look real sharp, but are also so cookie cutter that you really can't express yourself much more than adding a logo. Some CMS were very SEO friendly, but a pain in the ass to use and some were not SEO friendly at all. Like PHP-Fusion with designers who refuse to work SEO into the development of the CMS. I would still be using Php-Fusion, but they fail miserably in that area. No shopping carts, no SEO? Not sure what they are developing LOL. A big wet turd of a CMS?

I have several tutorials I need to do to figure out how to make everything work properly, but the graphic design part of it is a lot more fun than stinking tutorials! It's a lot more work than using a CMS, but I think it's much better unless you have thousands of products you're selling. It might take a while to create a whole website for massive amounts of products, but if you're just adding a few items here and there I think it's much better. You're getting these amazing looking and crazy ass designs that there is no way in hell you could get any other way. It's been more fun for me than actual WORK. Gives me a chance to be artistically creative and be able to sit back and say "Yeah I'm the sick bastard that made that site" lol...

Some CMSes (e.g. drupal) are actually really customizable. Though it's a whole new set of skills you need to learn to do it.

If you maintain a blog or a news feed, or want to list upcoming tour dates or anything though, a CMS is really useful.

Yeah I've used Drupal, but it's a total pain in the ass. Too much BS. You can do all the stuff you're talking about very easily without a CMS. At the end of all the customizing, it still looks like a Drupal website lol.

What's the deal with metal bands all using that gay indecipherable sticks and twigs lettering?

Nice way to change the topic, but not all metal bands use logos designs like that. Although yes a lot of extreme metal bands use logos that are hard to decipher if you don't know what the band name is. That's just how it goes. It's like asking why all punk band logos are drawn in crayon by prepubescent glue sniffing morons. Of course my last statement is purposely stereotyping a whole genre of music and would it would be very ignorant of me if I really meant it. LOL

I love that fucking logo <3 and I think it's a wicked ass design. I feel fortunate to have had this guy, who in my opinion is one of the greatest metal logo designers I've ever met. I don't think anyone could of done a better job. I know I wouldn't have been able to do anything better. It is unique and original in my opinion and any one into Death Metal who hears the music and sees the logo will remember that it is Zombiism. Not that there is any music yet, but just a matter of time before I get the band together :P

Yes it would, but I really meant it. That font is uber gay. :D

Site looks good so far though.

It's not a font lol, technically. Until you can do a better one I leave you with your gay opinion...

jk :D

OK I finally finished it for now. There isn't a whole lot to put on it for right now, but I think it's pretty good and I can just add what I need as I go. What do you think?
