does anyone have any of the Zildjian K Custom Dark Crashes

im looking for a 17" but a 16 would do

anyways if never played the K Customs

does anyone use them and have them recorded

i know i know they have em all recorded on the Zildjian website but i dont like their recordings ... they dont even hit the bass drum and it sounds like they mic the cymbals from the bottom

the K customs are pretty cool. i've never owned one, but from banging on the drum kits at Guitar Center, i've liked the K customs. they have more of a "musical" tone to them and are less bright than the A Customs. i really loved the K custom splashes more so than the crashes. they sound incredible.

If you can get the .mp3 link to work, here is a 'swishy' recording I did for a friend in a multi million dollar studio in the heart of London England 10 years ago using a 17 Zildjian K Custom on the right hand side of the kit. The other cymbal was 19" K Med Thin Crash, but I'm sure you can hear the 17" by itself just after the big middle section.

Hope this helps.

unfortuantly i couldn't get the clip to work but that's OK

thank you very much for trying

I'm pretty sure i'm gonna get this cymbal

i would hit ya with some rep but i cant give any out right now

The K's are nice but also expensive. They are used (as I've seen them) more in Jazz and Fusion stuff I believe Carter Beauford uses them from Dave Matthews Band and I'm almost positive Steve Smith of Vital Information uses them. My drummer also has one of the dark crashes. 16" i think...it sounds really nice, but if you are a hard hitting player watch out. My drummer has split 3 now i think...But I've heard that Zildjian replaces those if you do. They have kind of a darker sound to them.

Hope that helped

a friend of mine has a set, and man do they sound good and record easy.
but he's kinda a jazz cat and i could see whare they wouldn't cut enough for heavy stuff.
