well what do ya guys think

how does this sound for blues

my buddy told me that neil peart used the 22" in his zildjian days

but i think if i get it im gonna get 20"

Hey,

I have been using a 20" A Custom Ping ride for about 3 years now and I have found it to be quite versatile in all genre's. As much as I hate tape on cymbals I have found that it's use, in moderation, on the ping is necessary to control it's tendancy to over ring in heavier applications.

Hope this helps.

i have one, and i agree with this, it sounds great and gives a nice attack (I imagine this would suit blues playting well, with a defined center to each stroke). It is not very good IMO though at a mellow diffused sound which i would like to pull out now and again. But when i win the lottery and get a K custom dark ride, i will probabaly keep the ping as well.

A custom Ping Ride and the A Ping Ride are different. With the A custom, you'll get more wash. The A's are more pingy yet you can still crash on them if you needed to. I have a 20" A custom Ride (not a ping ride) and I use it as a crash because it's ride qualities are lacking. A 22" A Medium Ride is a good selection IMO, nice ping yet versatile enough to wash out if needed. I Never use tape on cymbals.
