Rock Steady
maybe this cut makes a little more sense and will work for some. This is a little different and may be a little too out there as well or just not their cup of tea. I got it smoothed out and tried some different layering on the instruments I dont normally do.

I let this one play a little longer, but still cut it off cause of the 56k. I`ll have cable modem monday and this gnashing of the teeth and wringing of the hands will be over hopefully.

I had no prob listening lo-fi on 56k. Here's a hint - when I'm downloading, I shut all my HRBBS pages - they do this continual self-update that really sucks up bandwidth.

Anyhow, nice vibe, but kind of a General Midi sound to it - if it was supposed to just be a sketch, then cool. You shore know how to construct a groove.

The lead synth DIDN'T really have a GM sound - really nice texture - but the overlapping of the notes was problematic for me. If you could do this in unison mode, or shorten the tail (or :lightbulb: control the tail with a slider - I gotta try that sometime), I know I'd like it better - that may just be a personal taste issue, though.

Again, I was listening lo-fi --- might sound less GM on a good connection. But nicce work even at lofi.

When we gonna hear you sing, man?:D

Just saw this thread!

Guess you can apply my comment from the other to this one.:D

Betta. Timing not so much an iss you (never meant to diss you ;))

This thing makes me want to go test drive some expensive cars... sit under some neon lights on a busy street and soak everything up!! Then go get really slutty at some bar I've got no bin'ness going into :p

Would like some new airy textures in contrast with some of the other synth stuff... give it some more "depth" (you know)... seems to help that "Llarion"-guy get some depth in his 95% synth stuff.

Toke on...eh.... Kenny!! :D

better than version 1.. yeah the timing thing is not as bad on this.. would have liked a snare somewhere though.. the synth choices all boil down to preference I guess.. I would have prefered others, but it's still cool..

Cool groove!

Everythings very clean,and big.
Piano sounds really nice.

The only thing I heard was,the sawtooth synth needs to be in stereo or lowered in volume.
It really cuts through and carries most of the melody.
JMHOP.:)

This is the basis of your collab right?
I could definitly see things happining with this.
Great start!

Pete

thanks for the listens guys. This is not normally where my head is at but I had to do it. I kept the drums in cause it was part of the picture i was seeing. I worked with a drummer long ago that was capable of those faux flams on a single bass drum, or could play on, beside, behind, or backwards on the beat all the way thru the tune, so I was sorta trying to recreate his playing, disjointed sounding as it may be :)
The synth was a little loud, I kept it up a little too much over the work going on.
I think I may be nearing the sonic capablility of this soundblaster card and the old DW8000 korg. 'Maybe nearing time to do something about it...

Damn. I listened and reviewed this late Friday night - 'net musta swallowed my post.

So what do I remember? Liked the groove. Thought the sounds were kinda GM, except the lead synth - but I thought that needed a shorter tail (personal pref).

And I think I asked when we were gonna hear you sing???:D

I think I dubbed you the groove kang, too, or something like that.

Nice kernel of a song, Toki. Where you gonna take it?

If you're talking about the HRC4 collab, nah. We're using Bread & Beans. He's got some others brewing, though, maybe one of those?

Ok guys.. I thank you for listening, if you didnt like it...cool :), if you did.... cooler! :)
Its not my usual thing, but it had to come out. It was a reflection of some things from way back when... I`m over my short case of the doldrums now, I hope. Except for hittin the house accountant up for gear cash! :)

I'm is a happy manz.... I got my cable modem hooked up today!!!
'no more whining and bitching at the bps counter during uploads and downloads, at least for a while. :D

Yep that ol bread n Beans thing is the foundation for the collab, daf' has new keys and vox, I got new bass line and drums, and maybe a bg vox or two to go. We`ll see..

Cool clean sound. A very punchy bass. I liked that a lot. Some real good keyboard sounds, espeically the "lead" one. Nice part too.

Little pop at :20.

Maybe use a different take on that sax? The part didn't thrill me much.

Am I the only one who can't get a lo-fi stream on NWR? It went pretty good up to about 43 seconds, the next try it went for 56 seconds, the third try only went 08 seconds! I even disabled the avatars! Just wonderin if it's the computer here or if Waldo did something last time the lights went out at NWR.

It maybe some "intergalactic anomoly" bdbdbbuck :)

trip, i was just pondering how a baritone sax player might approach this with a laid back but authoritive feel, so i just pecked a few notes to see what it would turn like and to see if I could voice it. But...., 'Nothing like the real thing baby..

Well, I at least made it all the way through.... with only a couple of brief pauses. I agree there aint nothing like the real thing when you're talkin sax... I was gonna make a funny here, but thought better of it. So when do we get to hear the guitar on this?

bd

Well............Everybody knows that sax is much better when it's the real thing! I know..... korny..... that's why I thought better of it.

Hello Toki,

I listenend to the recording. :) Sounds good, I am letting it simmer like a pot full of rice that needs to keep the steam contained so that the rice gets nice and tasty.
