Zero7 piano/organ sound -- what synth?

hi there,

any idea what synth 'Zero7' use to produce their increadibly smooooooth piano/organ
sound?? (e.g. on the track "In The Waiting Line" on their album "Simple Things").
I have a Korg MS2000 and an Oberheim OB-12 but couldn't generate that sound :-(

Any comments are welcome!

could you throw up a little sound sample and put it on the web... cause i've never heard of zero7 before...
 
sorry but i don't let real audio touch my computer... i think alot of people here feel the same way :) it's the most annoying proggie to install with all those popups and extra stuff you have to uninstall..

Yeah, me neither. Plus, I'm behind a firewall, so I can't stream even if I wanted to.

Can't say I'm down with their stuff much. Sounds like they borrow every style from the 70's that I don't like.

Anyhow, the instrument that runs through most every track is an electric piano of the Fender Rhodes variety.

You can get one of those. They are absolutely beautiful and classic sounding instruments. :) A cheaper and far more portable alternative are the Emagic EVP73 or EVP88 plugins.
http://www.emagic.de/english/products/instruments Certainly not a Rhodes, but the sounds are pretty damned good. And as long as they are set back in a mix, it's hard to tell the difference.

thanks for your messages! I guess you are right that Zero7 might use a
Fender Rhodes or a patch that sounds like it (heard this from other guys in the meantime, too).

Regarding the real media file, I didn't want to put a 7MB mp3 file on the web
since 1) I think it is a waste of internet resources (the ram file is MUCH smaller)
and since 2) I didn't want to violate copyright laws by putting a downloadable
mp3 online. Also, for just listening to a sound bite, a real media is much faster
since you can start listening to the file even though it's not yet completely downloaded.

I saw them live, supporting Lambchop, and both keyboard players had identical setups - a Rhodes each and a Juno 106 each. I've seen live footage from other (headline?) gigs, though, and there's all manner of samplers and rack stuff there which wasn't evident at Manchester. Maybe they pared it down cus it was a support slot. They were awesome, anyhoo.

thanks for your reply! I've heard from another guy, too, that Zero7 use Fender Rhodes and Juno synths. Wish I'd had the opportunity to see them live!

By the way: I have a Korg MS2000 synth and managed in the meantime to exacty reproduce the Zero7 piano sound! I luv it :-)
 
I'm a bit of a fan of Zero 7, but you have to admit that they are a bit of an AIR rip off. Obviously AIR's earlier stuff...not that ripping that off is a bad thing!
