Hi there

I recently bought a new Zalman CNPS7700B copper cpu fan. I got a bit tired of trying to produce music over the noise that my Prescott 2.8 cpu's stock fan produces and the Zalman, I'm told, is a highly recommended solution.

I would just like to know if there's anyone else out there using this particular fan or any other 120mm cpu fan for that matter. My problem is fitting this fan into my pc case. I've come to the conclusion that a mini tower is probably not big enough to house this fan - my cpu is sitting right against the power supply and fitting anything of this size on there is never gonna work. I'm not too bothered about this, cause I was looking to purchase a new case anyway, but I want to be sure I'm buying the right size this time round.

I'm looking at either the Antec Solution SLK2650-BQE Mid Tower or the SLK3700-BQE Super Mid Tower. If anyone knows if any of these cases will do, please give me a shout. Other suggestions also welcome.

There are some "quiet" cases out there that may be worth looking at also. Something like a Antec Sonata or these listed Here

The big difference in these cases is that all bays have rubber grommets to dampen vibration

also more space in a bigger tower = more air movement = cooler processor temps = stability

I got the Sonata and I'm very happy with it. There are lots of extras in there that I didn't expect like the sliding trays for the drives. The cables are high quality. I have the Zalman Cu-Al fan in there. The pure copper fan is heavy so be careful moving the case once it's installed. (The weight of the Zalman's exceed the Intel and AMD specs.)

I use a Zalman in my case and if you can throttle down the fan speed and maintain a temperature that you are comfortable with it IS quieter, but if you are looking for SILENT, I'd say you need to look a bit further.
