I had read about them, and they seem like a slick little unit with the ability to draw it's power from the FireWire port. At the time I was ready to upgrade my interface, they weren't available yet.
After reading that the MOTU 828mkII was nominated for the 2004 TEC awards, for digital converter technology, I opted to spend a little more for it.
I'm even more pleased to find that the 828mkII has in fact won the TEC award for outstanding technical achievement in digital converter technology.

I'm sure the Edirol is a quality unit, but if you can afford it .... you may want to look at an award winner.

but I am very pleased with the MOTU.
