I 've recently read a very long article regarding why a
P4 processor sucks. It's lack of caches, inefficiency, use
of clock speed to compensate, lack luster performance
compared to AMD athlon and P3. I've also done an
indirect invitation for P4 users to post their sonic
victories and I was answered by silence. It seems
nobody is using P4's to record music. Only P3,
Athlons and Celerons. Is there any truth to this?
So If you're using a P4. Please tell us about your experience.
Do you think it's worth getting one instead of a P3
or athlon? I used to think yes but now I'm confused?

I have a P4 1.4 ghz processor, SB live, using Cubasis and Wavelab with an external Behringer mixing board. I have overloaded each of 5 channels with 2 EQ's and an effect and did not experienced a problem or a noticeable slowdown while mastering. I can only record using one line in at a time so this may not be a good test considering other soundcards have multiple ins and outs. I do rely on my local geek and he tells me the AMD's are faster and I believe him.
