If I recall correctly, there was a post similar in the mic forum a while back. It was determined that these were fakes. To my knowledge anyway.

Look how in the photo the 'R' in the SHURE written on the microphone is up as in it is higher than the rest of the writing. Apparntly that means it is a fake! I wouldnt know cause i own one that is apparntly a fake (bought off ebay for low price so i wouldnt be suprised!)

Judging from the guy's other auctions, it looks like he's up to his eyeballs in microphones. Something doesn't smell right. The shipping charges ($28) seem a bit steep. That could be the key to undertanding the scam, if indeed it is a scam.

An SM57 weighs 10 ounces, according to Shure's documentation. Allow a bit for packaging, and let's call it an even pound.

As best I can tell from the USPS web site, including insurance and return receipt, the first class postage would be about $10.

Doesn't smell right....

I woudln't be suprised if they were real. The 'scam' part is hoping that people don't realize the shipping charges. $40 a mic + $35 shipping is $75 a mic. That's about a normal price for an sm57.

He's got another auction for FIVE SM57's, with a b-i-n price of $98 + $55 for shipping (oh, + $5 more for insurance!). That's a TOTAL of $31 per mic. Too good to be true, methinks.

Oh, and he's got FOUR of those 5-packs up for auction. Plus lots more.

I can hear it now: "What?! You got an empty box? OH NO! The mics must have fallen out. I'll refund your money (minus the 'shipping and insurance,' natch)."

If the 'R' is Shure is backwards, it's a good bet it's a russian knock-off.

US $38.00 US Postal Service First Class Mail® Estimated delivery 2-5 days United States only
US $38.00 UPS Worldwide ExpressSM 1 to 2 business days Worldwide

He is not from the us then

the shipping is expensive because once you get it and realize its a fake and return it he only has to refund you $30 and not the shipping

Apparently he's in China. That in itself does not make the guy a scammer. But I would advise caution. Perhaps more significant is the fact that the guy has lots of auctions going, yet he has only one (very recent!) feedback entry as a seller.
