This is a song that Phil and I are going to record this weekend. I'm posting the layout arrangement as more of an insight into how Phil and I write, arrange and prepare for the recording of a new song. I usually come up with a rythum/melody guitar someting, usully at least 4 different parts that can be made into an arrangement of some kind. Then Phil hears it and starts thinking vocal melody and lyrics etc. He's such a geneous with lyrics, he usually writes the whole songs lyrics in about 20 minutes. Then I put a 58 in front of him and a 57 at my accoustic and hit record on two tracks in cooledit and sit back and listen. And say, maybe we should do this or that and rearrange and re-record untill it works. This is where haveing a home recording setup is such a major advantage in song writing as we all know. Anyhow it turned out sounding ok as is. In my humble opinion. There is a few mistakes in it and the early vocal takes that bled into my 57 whilst playing acoustic are in the mix a bit, but it shows where we are going with the song anyway. I will post the weekends efforts as soon as is mixed. Anyway.......

Scott, are using a slack tuning of some kind? Sounds pretty cool the way it sets. Where you going with this?

Ahh!
I LOVE it! The guitar fills are spectacular.
Why are you re-recording it? sounds amazing as it is! (at least on the cans. It's too late it night for speakers...)

Call me crazy, but I almost think the vocal bleeding works. :D
What a great tune, very cool mood. Nice clean guitars. Nice vox too! Looking forward to the finished mix.

Track Rat the tuning is Keith Richards style. I drop the two E strings and the a string down two notes for this one. Not quite sure where to fit drums yet (if any) but we will jam that out this weekend and find something.

ok...so how do I get potatoe head out of my brain??;)

ah har, my plan is working. Punk Potato in you head. The voice and the potato are as one. Its too late. It can't be stopped!

......You will be assimilated into the patato collective......you will be assimilated......

Potat...uh...er...Scott,

That was awesome. Great sound all around.

If this wasn't finished, what is?

Who sez nobody is carrying on the tradition of early Tull and Kinks?

That's freekin' amazing for just throwing it together like you did. Given your amazing arrangement skilz I think it will be a piece of cake for you to tidy this up into a great recording.

Please don't lose that close-up acoustic flavor of the guitars and vocals like the two examples I gave.

Carry On!

cool tune Scott... I agree about the sound of those acoustic guitars, they sound great. 'Public Relations' is my favorite tune of yours so far,(I still play it often), but this one is very good too...

great job again, keep em comin!
