What should I do when I get this message:

You may be saving to a compressed (lossy) format be sure to keep a back up of the original if you want to preserve audio fidelity.

save it as a .wav instead of .mp3 or .wma or one of the other lossy formats...use "windows pcm .wav"
 
I have been saving to .MP3 since that was the defaulted one, is the loss of fidelity noticable in your opinions? Am I better off starting over and saving as .WAV for better sound? What are the other pro's and con's? I assume .Wav takes up alot less space also.

wav files are the standard and take up FAR more space than MP3's...they are about 10 times as large as MP3's. And yes, you can hear the differance in an MP3 and a .wav....If you cant, you probably need to work on your listening skills a bit more.

You have to decide for your self as to starting over....If you are in the middle of a project, it would be a tough decision....and depending on how much money you could lose from your client, and time it would take. If you are doing a project of your own and wont really lose anything but time....I would start over.
