You got to funkafize.
To paraphrase what I wrote in the beginning set-up (read my other post, if you want to know details) here is my question:

I want to be able to record with multiple mics into my computer onto n-track. Also, I may need to plug in a midi capable keyboard. Two mics usually, but the occasional bass and drums. So I figure between 4-6 inputs. Currently, I am using the stock PC sound card and plugging in a dynamic mic into the mic jack.

Do I:

A. Buy a sound card with inputs and preamps?
B. Buy a mixer (which has preamps already)?
C. Buy both?(and if so, which one to buy first, so I can start recording?)

Thanks.

And read the other post if you have time, please.

you can get a delta 44 for around $100...I think there is one for sale right now in the free ads section of the forum. then you can get a yamaha MG series mixer for about the same price...maybe a lil more...I havent checked in a while...either way...by the time you purchase cables and stuff...you can be recording for around $300
