Wow! No nits from me. Really tasty playing on this one. Congrats on the collab!

yeah, alittle more acoustic'd be nice. Also either boost your very 1st syllables or fade the lead line.
Nice song & story.
Someof the sldie/steel could be lifted a little.
Good work all around!

Hey Guys, thanks for the listen. I've got an acoustic in there, but it is pretty buried. I'll fix that. I'm not sure I want to bring up the slide guitar because it's just a patch on my kybrd and it doesn't sound too good. Maybe in some spots just for highlight.

How did the bass come across?? I always have trouble with the bass on my tiny 5" monitors.

Thanks again...

All of your parts are sounding good on there-my parts are too loud and they are a little ahead of the beat. I've sent another Tele track so I would say it could easily be dropped by 2 or 3 dB's and won't overpower the rest of it...this is a funny and cool song!

The lead line still seems loud, but the song sounds great overall-though my lead line is getting in the way of the vocal from 2:28 to 2:38. You might try fading this portion out and let your vocals carry it through there.
Hope Mrs. Chili likes the additions...

I don't know, Tony, I'm not hearing what you are. I think the lead sits nicely. I brought it up where there's no vocals for 2 or more bars and kept it low in the other places. I think it's a great contribution to the song and should be highlighted appropriately. I edited the break by cutting and pasting the lead riff to where the chorus comes in after the silence. So, it is under the vocals, but I think it adds to building the song and getting towards the ending. I like that kind of stuff :o If you really think it should come down, I will. And of course, now that I want to listen on my monitors, they aren't working.

The Mrs. loves it. :D and that's what it's all about.

I might have another song the needs a tele... I'm not quite sure how I'm going to approach it yet, but are ya interested??

Peace,

Yeah, I need to keep learning how to manipulate all of my gear and software better-I will add what I can. I loved the drum sound you got on the song-I think the ride cymbal (I think anyway) especially sounded great for driving the rhythm.

The only concern with the Tele volume was that it can give the 'icepick in the ear' syndrome with that 'Chicken Pickin' setting...(bridge pickup direct thru a Fender Blackface simulation on J Station).

Anyway, I'm glad you both enjoyed it and both of you have a wonderful evening. Catch you later!

The drums are ezdrummer with a lot of editing. I use different patterns and edit them heavily to avoid the drum machine monotony. I try to think how a real drummer would do it and go from there.

Yeah, we did. Thanks. It's funny, I tried to play it for her on the acoustic and I forgot the words..... Oh well.... :o

I love it -- it reminds me that it's time for me to put something together for Mrs. Chef (she's had it up to here with most of my musical activities recently :)). I wouldn't have guessed the slide was a keyboard if you hadn't said it (but I can now see why you'd want to keep it back)

Nice pickn' Tony -- really makes me want a Tele (not that I didn't already). I recognize the need to be wary of the ice pick effect, but it's not there for me.

The bass sounds good on my system, but that's not saying much.

This sounds great Chili!:)

I love the guest guitar work and think you did a good job slightly lowering it during the vocal passages so that it stood out more at other times.

Do you genuinely feel the way this song makes it sound?..if so, I am envious. I thought all married couples were predominantly miserable :p.

I wrote one song that was inspired by my wife (not all that flattering)...I did not share with her who or what it was about but she immediately picked up on it and was not happy...ouch. You are wise.

I might suggest looking at the pacing or phrasing of some of the verses. The ends of a few of them seem a bit rushed..."curve balls" & "time goes" for example. Just a thought...nice job all around!

Yeah, Tony really made the song work. I can't say enough good things about his contributions. I wish I could play like that. Thanks for the comments.

Yup, I can proudly say it's geniune. And thanks for asking. We've got a solid marriage and we enjoy every minute of it. Our two kids make it even better.

Thanks for the comments and the suggestions. I know I was off a little on some phrases, but that's the way I am.... :D

Peace,

Thanks a lot for the compliments-I really base a lot of that country stuff on Memphis style blues for the most part-a Tele's bridge pickup will give it that clucky sound. Its really funny that in my first bands we did a lot of metalish stuff like Sabbath, Zepplin, Deep Purple, Nugent...then I would jam with other friends on southern rock & country. I had to sort out what worked best for each style---a school of hard knocks education that I still use!

Pretty cool, I'm so glad you don't have that southern drall that I hate in country music, it make me actually like this song!

Well cool. I'm glad you like it. :) Nope, no southern drawl from me, I'm a Yank by birth. Although, you might catch me saying Fixin' every once in a while.

Thanks for listening.
Peace

Here's another song that's going to be a gift to the wifey for our anniversary. Still a work in progress, let me know what you think. Anfontan helped out with the Telecaster. (Thanks man!!)

All comments are welcome.
Peace,

The song reminded me of somthing; just can't put my finger on it :p But, I thought it was well done. The telecaster definately has that distinct sound. Nice job.

Sounds great to me. I think the slide stuff can come up a little. The drums are a little wetter than I typically prefer, but that's just personal taste.

I need to write a song for my old lady. She's great and puts up with me without bitching too much. :D

Damn, sorry for the comment and that it took so long for me to catch it-I mean't to type that it was a Fun and Cool song--my fingers apparently typed what they wanted~:o

Yeah Greg, you've mentioned the room sound before. It's ezdrummer, most everytime I mix a song down, your comments about the room come to mind. But I don't like it totally dead, either. With this song, I didn't do any processing on the audio, just a lot of editing on the midi events. Thanks for taking the time to listen. I'm always glad to get your opinion.

Ha - okay, now it's funny. I didn't catch it either. :)
