Has anyone found a place that these are in stock yet.... I looking but no one seems to have em yet... thanks for the help all...

It's too good to be true . . .

I think that Yorkville is just making us all salivate like Pavlov's dogs at the thought of getting a good set of powered monitors for under $650. :p

I don't think they'll ever be released.

I keep wondering, but I can't come up with a way they could cut costs to sell these things so cheap. Can someone help ME out on this one???

why is Yorkville so inexpensive?

Same reason why all their PA gear is so nice and costs less than most others, also.
How many ads for Yorkville have you ever seen? Think about it. I have seen 0. They have no huge advertising budget and rely on the performance of their product line to drive sales. So the way you find out about Yorkville is by hearing their product, or by hearing about it on forums like this.

You would puke if you knew how much JBL or Mackie or Yamaha put into advertising.

Be patient...they will come.

There are now Traynor and a few small ysm-1 ads in mix and such now

I've seen a couple internet stores having them availabe to order (didn't say if they were in stock, though). But they really shouldn't have them since they aren't released yet. Strange indeed.

I''m in OZ and apparently they are on there way here even ,but unfortunately they are flippin' exspensive down here. doh! doh ! doh!.

I just received an email from Yorkville: they haven't started shipping yet.....and they didn't offer an estimated date either (that can't be good).

I talked with someone over at Wheaton Audio and while he couldnt give a date that theyll be available, he did say they had them on order and will sell them for $209/each.......

I've been in contact with the oz supplier and he said 3-5 months.
And they will be about $1600 in oz dollars:(:(
Can you believe that price increase:(

im finding out many ways to buy things and avoid our dumb ass gst id do this buy the speakers from the us and have them sent to a friend or a contact over there re pack them all send the reciept work back to yourself just like you would send an airmail letter and then have speakers mailed to you label as fragile replacement speakers+ parts and casings value the lot at 125 us net and leave it at that ive done this so many times it aint funny
:-)
if anyone checks well they are speakers and casings along with parts so there is no lie there

I had a friend mail me a rolex once in the mail labelled it as a cheap swatch :-) and declared it as a gift worth 30 bucks guess who did not pay the duty that time :-) nothing ventured nothing gained

Governments make too dam much on revenue through taxes etc and how much of that really gets back to the people . . . . . . . . .

i guess if this is all to much of a risk there is always paying the full price down at the store and as for warranties show me anyone who gives you a real warranty something you can claim back on anyway im yet to see it :-)

Benefits of powered?

I'm a newbie just getting into recording, and this site has sold me on the Yorkvilles. I'm just trying to figure out whether to wait for the powered ones or just go ahead and get the originals. Can someone please fill me in on what benefits there are to powered monitors, and maybe recommend an amp to use with the Yorkville, if I go unpowered? I've figured that I could get a used amp cheaper and quicker than waiting for the YSM1p, but I'm guessing there might be some loss in sound quality and convenience with this plan. Thanks in advance.

Well, I use the Yorkville CR5 amp with the Yorkville speakers - rather overpowered, they do have a amp is designed for the speakers, but I really like it. It was recommended to me by the Yorkville guys to pair with the YSM-1s and it sounds great.

Everyone here says Hefler is the way to go, though

August . . . .

I was in contact with Yorkville just yesterday and they told me that the powered ysm1 models won't be out until August. They didn't give me anything more detailed than that . . . . just "August." Also, they couldn't quote me a price, either. :( I really hope they're not outrageous.

I'm out...

I couldn't just stand around waiting for the Holy Grail of powered monitors and doing nothing. They could be designed by Mr. Picasso himself yet they probably won't make my stuff any better because here I was....waiting....with no monitors to practice on.

I grabbed a pair of Alesis Monitor Ones MK2 for $179....mispriced at a local music store (thieves by day) :) I like em..they work for me and they didn't cost me a fortune (now I am a good husband/father).

Too bad about Yorkville...I emailed them and got a runaround response...back in MAY.
