Yo to all:

Since I just plugged in a pair of Yorkville YSM-1 monitors and found them to be OUT OF SIGHT compared to those monitors I UNPLUGGED which were Alesis 1's, I wondered about the Yorkville studio mics: Apex 420 or the 430?

Anyone out there use either of these mics? If they are quality, the price is right.

Thanks for any info,

Yo green hornet:

I'm thinking of getting one, also. Which were you looking at? I noticed the list is only $185 for the 430 and $329 for the 420. I wonder if Yorkville makes them or if they're an import like the others.

Yo Hard2Ears:

I sent you an e-post; maybe it didn't get to you?

You're right on the mic price quotes; however, there is a 25% discount from my dealer on those prices. So, be sure you get the same; but, I noticed you said, "list prices."

I don't know if these mics are made by someone else; however, the products are made in Canada and the YSM-1 monitors are very good for the money. I like that. Good stuff for a reasonable price.

Well, let me know if you get one of those mics; I'm thinking about buying one just for the hell of it; that's how I bought the Yorkville monitors.

both the 420 and 430 are great mics for the money. The 430 is a bit bassy and needs a low cut on the board for vocals because the mic doesn't have one. However, this makes it sound great on electric guitar. I haven't really used or heard much about the 420 except that it is good.

As for being made in Canada, i think the parts are made in China to the specs and assembled in Canada by Yorkville

Cave,
Have you had a chance to compare them to other mics? If so what? I'm very interested, I really like yorkvilles gear, but have to way of a/b ing them. Thanks in advance!

GHornet-
I got yer email. I'm not sure what I'm goinna do yet. Maybe I'll get a 430 for the heck of it too. Hmmm 185 - 25% is...138.75. Yeah, I guess I will. If I don't like it I can probably get that back easy. We'll see. I'll let you know when I get it. May be a little while, seeing hows I have to do some work on my Volvo ($$$).

oh, BTW, I have the YSM-1's too, and I love them! I don't know how I could get better sound out of a set of speakers.

Yo Hard of Hearing:

I agree with you about the mic. If the quality is anywhere close to the Yorkville monitors, it will be worth the money.

Anyone out there want a contact number for Yorkville products in the Grand Rapids area, let me know. A nice guy, a drummer who is drumming business at the front door of his house. You can do anything with a credit card on the phone.

Will also get back to you all when I try out a Yorkville mic.

All those other high price mic companies better listen up to this: quality is the best answer to success. If the parts are made in China, they speak in English.

I have not A/B'd the mics, but i think it is definately comparable to a C3000 for vocals. just watch the bass response. but for the price the 430 is definately worth it
