OK, so i think i finally have enough material to get the room sounding half way decent, so i figured i'd go ahead and post a diagram and some pictures and try to get some feed back.

what i have:
18 2'X4'X2" pieces of covered rock wool
16 2'X4'X4" pieces of acoustical cotton
From what i understand, the best placement for the speakers is shooting down the room the long way, but the south half of the room doubles as a home theater/hang space and is only used for spill over when i'm recording a whole band. so i'm more or less stuck with my mix desk where it's at.
the curtain's just a long thin piece of muslin that's just there to cover up the unsightly piles of crap that are behind it (it doesn't seem to effect the sound of the room).
i'm planning on just hanging the rock wool on the wall w/ velcro since building frames is a PITA and is somewhat counter productive.
i was thinking i'd use most of the 4" cotton as traps, placed across each corner floor to ceiling, and the rest as gobos.
as you can see in the pictures, everything is currently just kind of randomly scattered around, except for the 3 pieces of 2" hung on the north wall as a first reflection absorber.
i figure about three more pieces on the east wall directly across from the monitors as another reflection absorber and one as a cloud right above them.
should i also hang a cloud above my main tracking area?
other than that, i'm totally at a loss as to where i should put this stuff.
so i put it forth to you all, oh experts from the intertubes, to please guide me with your sage wisdom and advice.
many thanks in advance.
