yes, i too have a brand spanking new box of fire

connected to my DELL (yes, panic horror) laptop's 4 pin firewire - though i know thats not the issue

anyways, when i'm recording from the mic preamps - 1 seems to only record on the left channel, and 2 only records on the right
why??
my mic1/mic2 mixer settings are both set to centre... but alas the problem continues

what to do???
(i'm using cubase LE)

thankyouplease

That's not a Firebox problem --- it's a software problem.

Read the Cubase manual about how to set the track in question to be a stereo track or else plan to pan the two tracks hard left and hard right if you want to use it as is.

.

i am making stereo tracks, yet only the left/right channels are registering for mic1/mic2

???

When recording a stereo track in LE the default panning is hard left and right for the two channels. At the bottom of the channel strip is a small horizontal bar and you can move the sliders for each side to the middle or the other side. iirc.

i see
but my panning is set to centre, <C>

just to clarify - mic 1 input records only of the left channel, when i switch over to mic 2 it records only on the right

I'll try to look into it when I get home.

that would be great, cheers - this is really really bugging me

If you like, see my post about "multiple tracks problem in cubase LE" in the cubase section. I also posted in the Newbie section.

I had a similar problem and got a lot of suggestions. Have not yet really sat down and tried to get it working yet (baby on the way around x-mas!).

If you're only recording from one input channel (e.g. only input 1), you should probably be recording a mono track and setting the pan to center. That way, your pan control will control where that single signal appears in the stereo image.

seriously?
so you cant record in stereo through the mic inputs?

I'm really sorry. We had company last night over to watch the Foals-Bengals and I forgot.
