hey guys, I've been home with the flu all week, and I added some more stuff to this instrumental.. solos etc..

any comments on the mix would be cool.. I have flu ears right now..

I can't guarantee it's worth the download, but thanks if ya bother..

'sleepy instrumental #5'

lol! :34...funny break! Cool...Man where was your music when I was 16...those late late nights. :D 1:15 area is brilliant.

This is sick...the timing of the synths rocks! My opinion is the synth and the guitar should trade levels in the 2:45 area. Also 1:35 area (noticed after listening a second time.)

Pretty synth and effect-heavy so there's not much to comment on in the EQ area...sounds just right to me. The shift at 2:10 is sweet as can be. I love that kinda stuff! :)

Even the drum sound works well in this tune IMO.

You should be ill all the time and still get paid.

Didn't get to hear the first one:( suck's about the flu, man!! no vox!! after your last tune, i was really looking forward to hearing that improved sound!!:D another cool instrumental. i'm back on the pain killer's this afternoon, so this fit's real nice!! it feels cool to move my head back and forth real slow with mellow groove!!!:D I thought the synth lead was a little to up front sometime's, especially when it buried the ebow part's(or is it another ebow part??) shit i can't tell the difference!! but i love that ebow!!! you have control of that sumbitch!! cool!
the little piano????? part, @00:37 ,2:08 and the end, was real cool sounding!!! it' sounds like something from a disney movie or something(the cartoon one's) i'm rambling!!!
 hey man, i actually get to catch one of your tune's when you first post it!!!! (been awhile!!)

mellowfantasticallish!!

thank's sam!!!

peace

Rick

I remixed it

I hear ya rick! I am sick as a dog right now, and filled with all sorts of medication! I started this tune when I felt the cold coming on.. that's probably why it sounds more spacey than normal.. I have been home from work all week.. thanks d00d!

SLuice - I remixed it.. The drums were just going to be a scratch track until I could redo them.. who knows.. I shouldn't be messing with anything in this condition.. thanks.. "Man where was your music when I was 16..." I'll take that as you think it sounds very dated! :D yeah, it probably does..

No, far from dated actually. I mean I was very easily influenced those days, especially late at night.... ;) This stuff would have went well with my Dark Side of the Moon albums and the like....

There ya go... The guitar is sitting nicely now! Wow man, this is very creative stuff, some strong vision behind it! I recommend people give this more than one listen....

To be honest I don't know if I like the snare sound, but I don't know shit about drums.

"I can't guarantee it's worth the download, but thanks if ya bother" haha, like you left us 56k mutherfuckers any choice of the matter:cool: .:D , but I love hearing your tunes, and it's my damn fukin birthday...and the kids and the wife is away, and i'm smoking a big ole bud on your behalf and listening to this masterpiece of yours.

Synth work is great as always, haha like that little fart sound at 0:32:D . Say your going to retrack the drums? That's the only thing I can come up with, maybe another snare sound, not that it's a bad snare, I would try another if it were me...but you've heard my crap drums so who am I to say:) . Thanks man!

btw, I freaked my buddy out sunday..let him listen to you and the Crank man's "Master of puppets"...hey his jaw dropped to the floor (just like mine the first time i heard it), he's 38 and listens to alot of that vein of music...say's you two sound better...I agree.

Nice mix man.

I'd agree with Sluice... I'm not so hip on the snare sound. But that's more preference.

Sounds like something from a movie, I think. Like something that would be on a soundtrack or something.

Oh and in case the question is in your mind, this seems to be a step forward in a lot of ways. Partly in arrangement, partly in execution of your ideas, and partly in your promotion of marijuana use.

:)

(All of the above are true respresentions of my beliefs.)

I missed the previous mix, dammit :D

Recognisable Sam-chord changes, and very good ones again. The snare is a bit too.. I dunno. Something about it that my ears don't like. It sounds like a very standard midi snare would, but with more punch. Hey, no need for vocals here, since there's all these nice textures and little things. I wouldn't mind vocals, though, but they're not necessary, unless you want to make this song a lot longer. Then I'd suggest you try out that female singer too. I'd love to hear some nice / evil thing from you. Kinda like the beauty and the beast thing you sometimes do, but this time it would be taken a step further, I guess :D (I'm making absolutely no sense here, but maybe you know what I mean :D )

Hey, I just noticed you didn't have that weird-o mood change this time around. Not that I require you to have one. This time you don't need bridges either, this is good good good.

Hey Sam!

Cool tune man, sounded like your guitar sneezed at the beggining,
that was funny!:D

Everything sounds big and clear as always.
I really liked the backround synth sounds, sweet!

Sorry to hear your sick, flu's a bummer!
Get better soon dude!

Thanks for sharing it,
Pete

BTW-What's up with your site,no more streaming?
Did I miss something,again!:D
I usually hit pause and let it stream.

Flu sucks :o Not working doesn't ;)

I do like the additions. Love that low synth that holds everything up...

Kind of like "Head Bag", this song doesn't digest on 1st listen... you need multiple times w/it to get it... (I'm really liking "Head Bag", now... at first I wasn't sure)

If I were adventurous, I'd try a vocal on this...(ONLY because I'm hearing a melody in my head...) but that's in no way a promise what I'd come up with wouldn't suck! :D Lyrics would probably be something dumb like "Hey, you there in the tight white pants... party down like the south of France"

Tomorrow nite I got some time... maybe by the end of the weekend something half-decent could be worked up. I'll PM you later.

But, if you get an idea for this--don't even sweat it, man. I bow before your vocal abilities, anyway.

yeah, what's up w/ the no streaming?

sounds good though.........

i remember the first one, but not well enough to point out the changes you made.........

i can tell you for sure though that you didn't screw anything up.......sounds solid

thanks for checking it out guys! I try not to put up stuff that's under construction, but my ears were pretty clogged, and I wanted to get a little mix commentary.. I agree with all the drum comments.. It was mainly just a glorified metronome that I planned on redoing..

muzeman and powderfinger - I disabled the streaming because whenever I send someone a link who doesn't visit this site, they always complain about streaming problems, and they sometimes don't even know the difference between streaming and downloading.. A few of my friends skipped listening to a song because they thought something was screwed up.. Waldo said it's because of how I encode, but I'm using the encoder that he said to use.. I don't know, so until I figure something out, I just disabled the stream.. I'll probably get fewer listens this way, but at least I know it will always work.. I may have to go back to 128 just so it will stream I guess..

sorry about the inconvenience, but I thought it would be easier this way.. I download everything to the desktop nowadays, and just erase it immediately after commenting because I also have problems streaming other peoples tunes..

thanks again for the time and comments d00ds! :)

Floyd-size piece. (You can use that line in the bar if you like: "Hi, I've got a Floyd-size piece.")

It's hard for me to comment on the mix, cuz I don't deal with space like this in my own stuff. One thing that's easy for me to hear is how, if you put some words to the melody the guitar's playing, you'd have a song, if you wanted it to be a song. I like the chord changes against the melody. I love the echoey synth piano sound and the way you made a space for it to highlight it. Would that piano synth sound be better if it was closer up?

That chopping and changing you do is a really effective way to keep the riff satisfying and not degenerate into something monotonous.

I'm singing along with the melody this time through. I can hear harmonies too. You sure you want to leave this one instrumental?

Good one. Hey, I think the last time I listened to one of yours you were sick that time too. You need more fresh air and exercise. :D

You are absolutely right! I live in a dark ash tray.. :D

Yeah this may get some vocals and new drums.. Sometimes you get used to hearing something a certain way, but I agree it could be better with vox.. thanks for the comments man..

I agree with Dobro...I was actually singing along to this my third listen last night...it's quite open to those possibilities...

Very nice-cut out some of the cosmic drips? I like the way it drops in for a measure of the boink stuff then out. So is the guitar/ key melody what you want a vocalist to sing? Good melody. The second melody that goes on under the main melody later is cool too-this might turn into your version of "it takes two" if you can get your girl to sing and you do backups :). As always the arrangement is cool and original and the playing and sounds impeccable. Nice break at 1:10 almost sounds like tapping? Cant comment on the mix too much-I'm listening through walkman headphones :(.. Sounds like you skimped on the drums compared to usual-but so much else to listen for i hardly noticed-I can almost hear this being suuuuuuuuper heavy if it was slowed down just a touch-the drum possiblities would open up-but blah blah im ramblin here. Enjoyed it.
