I recently bought myself a yamaha 8track tape recorder in a perfectly good condition. However bounced tracks are much lower in volume then recorded! My question is if someone out there experienced this before and how I avoid this !?

You mean when you mix down to digital in stereo?
Guess it's just the way it is - at least when we're mixing down to DAW, the sound card reproduces the volume at much weaker volumes than the "phones out" on the desk.
You'll either have to learn how to do mastering (and please don't use new music as reference, you'll squash the dynamics out of it) or send it to a mastering guy. Pro Tools works decent for mastering, an outboard compressor and a 15 ips reel to reel even better.
