I spent months looking and researching for a keyboard. Couldn't afford much but narrowed it down to a few I was keeping an eye out for and in the mean time looking into others that popped up on the craigslist/ebay radar. Between just missing out on some good deals and getting screwed by a couple people who backed out on me I found a guy with a W7 for sale. Cost me $200 but it all works aside from some cosmetic damage. Fits the bill for my stay at home recording and they say it's a decent workstation. Only had it a day and took some time to listen to the factory sounds and such. All in all it should be just fine for what I need.

Here is the thing though. It has been upgraded to the version 2 and I opened it up to see what it has in the way of expansion. It has an expansion board installed but it isn't labeled and there isn't any other slots for adding the others I have heard about. Have heard of 3 expansion ROM boards named Concert Grand (WEMB01), Vintage Sounds (WEMB02), and Rhythm Section (WEMB03). They say Concert Grand is a must have. The problem is there isn't much info out there and I can't even find a list of all the factory voices in all the parameters anywhere. The manual doesn't go into much detail about this at all and the unit gives no indication of what is installed through the display. Clicking through the different parameters I can tell it has added voices which is an add on option because of the label of the bank but it leaves me scratching my head about a few things.

Is the board installed only the version 2 upgrade? If so how can you add any more of the expansion ROM boards without having to remove it or one of the other choices they are offering? Maybe I am missing something here but it isn't my first look inside of an electronic device and there just isn't anything else there to plug something into. From what I am led to believe these other expansions are plug in's and not a floppy disk. So if you have to remove one to use another is there a way to tell which one is installed from the display menu?

I know Yamaha offers some software support disks with other sounds in floppy form labeled Session Player (EMS SYW7D001), Hip hop & Techno (""002), Top 40 (""003), Ambient & New Age (""004), Analog & Vintage (""005), and Super Synth (""006).

If anyone can point me in the right direction and may know of other sites to look to find stuff for this synth I would appreciate it greatly.
