Keep it, it may come in handy... but stop getting f*cked up before you buy gear!
That unit really doesn't do too much, so it's not too complicated. It only has a MONO input, but still has Stereo outs ... so it's not too bad. Once nice thing about the input is you can switch between +4dB and -20dB. Don't know why -20 and not -10, but that's the way it is. The same is true for the outputs. If you're going to use it with the 488, better set both inputs and outputs to -20dB. Running it at +4 will probably overload the aux channels on the 488. It also has MIDI in, out and thru in case you want to send program changes from a keyboard or sequencer.
Here's a quick run down of the front panel:
To scroll through effects, use the arrow UP/DWN buttons(between Store and Recall)
As you scroll through effects the 'memory' number will blink, until it's solid the previous effect that was chosen will continue to be used. to select the effect press RECALL.
To scroll through parameters (reverb room size, chorus width/rate, delay length, etc.) press PARAMETER.
To change parameter values use the Arrow UP and DOWN (between the Parameter and Balance buttons).
To save new effects, scroll to the number you want to save it as (UP/DWN arrows between Store & Recall) ... and press STORE.
Press BALANCE and set it to 100% (UP/DWN arrows again) if you're going to use it with your 488 aux send/return. You can control how much effect during mixdown by adjusting the aux return levels on your 488.
BYPASS toggles between Wet/Dry
FOOT TRIGGER, although I never have used it ... i think turns the pedal on so you can switch effects with a footswitch.
UTILITY lets you change program names and MIDI settings.
