Okay, so I'm really a bassist/guitarist, but I'm getting semi-serious about keys.
I bought the S90. I love it! I bought the piano/keys expansion board, as well. I want, though, to buy a module/half rack with a hodgepodge of instrument sounds instead of having to keep ponying up $160 for individual/instrument family specific expansion boards. I'm totally ignorant about how modules work. Is the S90 the kind of board that will work with modules, and which brand can I get, can I cross-pollinate? For example, I'm looking at one of the Kurtzweil modules (ME1). I was also looking at the Yamaha VL70M, but it is about @150.00 more than I want to spend right now. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Cross pollination is what midi is all about.

When you have a midi-capable keyboard it's your ticket to whatever your little heart desires as far as what goes on the other end of the midi out wire.

If you want the Kurzweil sound, get a Kurzweil module; if a virtual analog sound trips your trigger, the Korg M2000R may be just the ticket; if you want to reach WAY back to the dawn of midi, a Yamaha TX7 would give you those DX7 sounds or a Roland MKS-80 (if you can find one) for that real analog warmth and presence.

There are MANY XG and GS modules out there that will add worthwhile sounds to your S90 --- listen to everything you can find and choose carefully, knowing that you have 20 years worth of sound modules to pick from.
