Well here I am again-
I traded my Mackie 1402 in for a "better" Samick mm1642 4 bus. When I got it home I spent hours remodeling my studio and when I finally plugged it in, the main xlr Left & Right mix outs did not work at all. I called immediatly the next morning and all of the sales guys were "busy". On the third try I got someone and I told him to hold my 1402 so I could bring the Samick back. He said no problem. I came in the next day and no one knew anything about it and they sold my Mackie. They said that they would fix the samick and I would have it in two days. It has now been a week and two days and their "tech" says that he is stumped.
I am so pissed!
They gave me a crappy 8 channel powered mixer to get by until they fix it.

I was thinking of just getting the $225 that I put down on it back and using the mackie as in store trade. They do not have any mixers that are worth anything right now.

I went to Guitar Center and they have a Yamaha Promix 01 for $450.00. or $510.00 w/warranty.
There are a few things that I don't like about this board.
#1- the first eight channels are XLR only and the last eight are 1/4" only. I have 12 channels of keyboards-
#2- it only has stereo outputs (I would like a 4 bus)
#3- it is older and might die the day after the warranty is up.

I do like the spdif out and the on-board effects/compressor.
Have any of you used this board?
Is it worth the $510.00? Or should I keep looking?

Any help would be great
Thanks-

tk421,

I use a Promix 01 for mix down in my studio... couple things to point out...

you can use the external two F/X send (sends 3 and 4) to be your 3rd and 4th sub groups... effectively giving you 4 subgroups... L, R, FX3 and FX4... that should cover you.

The other two FX sends go to the internal processors.

I've had mine for YEARS (bought it about 2 years after they came out)... only had some OP-amps go bad and they were easily taken care of).

Also... even though the second 8 channels are 1/4 inch... they ARE balanced TRS... so you actually can use them as mic channels, they just will not be phantom powered.

Its really a pretty nice board for the age it is. I'm not sure if the price they are asking is all that great... you might want to check ebay or something to see what prices they've recently sold at.

Hope that helps.

Velvet Elvis

Thanks for the post velvet Elvis but I ended up buying a Mackie 32-4. It cost twice as much but I think that it was well worth it.
16 channels just wasn't enough.
Thanks again-
