Hi guys,
I’m just looking for some thoughts and ideas on a problem I’m having at the moment. After a ten year gap I’m trying to get back into songwriting and looking to do a bit of home recording. Four years ago I was given a birthday present of a Yamaha MW10 USB Mixer but I have only taken it out of the box now (sad I know). I have a Dell Inspiron 6400 running on XP. I installed Cubase LE 1.0.8 (which came bundled with the mixer) and the drivers without any problems.
The problem I have though is no matter what strip on the mixer I connect my guitar or bass to, when I play there is no rsponse on the graphic display on the mixer for volume. I even tested on a particular input connection which is indicated in the manual, (see attached pic). I have moved the gain knobs around but again no response. Cubase is also not picking up anything, when I do a test recording on a channel there is no activity on Cubase’s input signal level, when I play back the recording there is nothing. I religiously followed the instructions in the manual regarding selecting the settings in Cubase. Here’s a checklist of what I did;
Under Device Menu>Device Setup>VST Multitrack> ASIO Multimedia driver was chosen.
Under Device Setup>Control Panel> Input and Output ports were set to USB Audio Codec
ASIO Multimedia>Advanced> again USB Audio Codec on Input and Output ports are selected
VST Inputs> engaged the port active button for USB Audio Codec
I have a feeling the source of the problem lies with the mixer, I don’t think it’s faulty though as it was stored away unopened in the same place for the last four years. Anyway I really appreciate any feedback you guys may have. Thanks for reading. P.s. apologies if this is not the correct section for this post.
