So I have the mu90Rackmount tone generator.
It's old but I like it.
My dilema is; I have changed my PC and this one does'nt have an rs232, D sub port
and I really liked using the xg sounds on the old computer. So Is there a way to connect the mu90 via usb? using the mu90 host feature?
I'm using Cubase SX3 for a daw. I cant remember what drivers I used before but I still have them somewhere on a hard drive.
Thanks guys
Rich

You should be able to get either a simple MIDI interface for your PC, or maybe a MIDI to USB converter.

The difficulty with using the RS232 D sub port is that Yamaha developed driver software to allow it to drive MIDI across it, I think at 38.4 kbps.
MIDI itself runs more slowly.
Using a USB to RS232 adapter means the drivers would have to work to USB and I don't think they do that.
The answer is to use a standard USB to MIDI interface as has been said already.

John.

Maybe a pci RS232 card?
I already have midi in out on the m audio delta 66.
Thanks for your time guys

Yup, a PCI card should do the trick.
Then you'll need to load the Yamaha driver for MIDI via RS232.

John.
