I need help mastering tracks - I need to know - how do you keep the same stereo field as the 4 track when recording from the 4 track to a cassette deck? Any help would be appreciated - Thanks!!!

I'm familiar with 4 trackers and, if the Sony is like those I used, you have the pan function which you can establish as you like.
I'm guessing that you are running two RCA plugs from your recorder to your tape deck?
If you have bounced tracks, then you will have a different problem. You can tweak the bounced track but you lose control of tweaking "both" instruments you have bounced. You may want to tweak the bass but whatever else you have on the bounce may not sound good with the tweak.
If you are running two RCA plugs into your cassette, you should be able to control the stereo image.
