Hey all... I am new here and could use a little help! I use a tape recorder for a variety of reasons, mainly to get genuine tape hiss and what not...

I own a Yamaha MT-50, does anyone know how I could erase stuff I recorded on this 4 track? Whenever I record over something, it only adds to what is already recorded, it doesn't erase the previous recording.

please help :)

Why would you want genuine tape hiss?

I can think of other reasons recording to tape is a good idea, but not the actual noise... but, whatever...

So you're saying if you record on a single track it records over what's already on the single track and that the end result is that both things are there ON THE SINGLE TRACK...

Or are you getting your 4 tracks all mixed up and expecting when you record something new over a single track that the other 3 tracks will be automatically erased?

Put the tape in your mixdown deck and hit record on side a and then do the same for side b.
Nice clean clear tape to record on...
