I'm about to spring for a pair of powered near-field monitors. The MSP5 and PS5 both sound decent, but I haven't been able to compare them to the PS6. Is it worth paying $100 extra for the extended low end on the PS6? Any opinions and/or input regarding these three particular models would be much appreciated.

PS6!

Definitely get the PS6 - they are well worth the extra hundred.

YAY my 50th post! No more newbie for me!

Thanks for the tip. I ended up going with the Yamaha msp5's, rather than the Event ps6's, even though I found a place that had them for around the same price ($450, give or take a few bucks). The reason? Space. The Yamahas have about the same bass response as the ps6, give you some EQ adjustment options (ps6's have none), and they have more than enough high end to get Fido's attention when you play your favorite dog whistle cd. At about 1/2 the size of the ps6 and finished in matte black, you hardly notice them -- until you fire 'em up. Highly recommended, if you want a very big sound from a small powered monitor.
