What style of music do you think this board has the best sounds for or which style of music do you think this board is best for?

I love the sounds on that Board. I have an S80, and the Motif continues Yamaha's excellently clean sounds. I like the Piano sounds... They are bright and not as mid rangey as your typical piano sounds. I especially love the Rhoades, EP sounds: Clear, crisp and very expressive. I was also happily surprised by the Synth sounds. Again very well put together. The Drum sounds are very good also. I am not much into orchestral sounds, so I can't comment on their quality.

I can tell you I played the Motif 7, and the 8, and between the sounds and the board's action, I was very very impressed. The 7 was especially great in its action. Seemed very smooth and comfortable to play. As for the 88 keys version, I didn't spend enough time to get a feeling for the action, one way or the other.

As to the sequencer, I am not much into workstations, since I do all of my sequencing on my puter. If they ever come out with a rack version, I'm picking it up.

Try it out. I think you'll enjoy it.

The sounds are mostly for electronic music. It aint no back up for a rock band. Ambient, trance, house, it's got it all. The drum sounds rule when they're put into the compressor.
Well.. actually i just tried the rs7000 last week but the sounds should be the same.
As for sequencer, I hate computer sequencing. I'd prefer hardware like the rm1x or the rs7000 any time... but can i afford it? noooo.... :(

Are we talking about the same board? What's the RS 7000. My take on the motif is that it is very versatile, and could be used in a variety of music styles including R&B, Jazz/Blues and rock... I use my s80 for all of the above styles.
