First post, but I've been been reading these boards for a while and love them.

I recently installed the Yamaha CBX driver to control my keyboard through my serial port on my computer. Unfortunately, when events are sent to the keyboard, there's a faint but audible 'tick' for each event (so with a chord, I'll hear several ticks in succession). This tick is coming through the speakers on the keyboard, but when I record back to the computer, the ticking is in the recording. Anyone used this serial port driver or had this problem? I'd like to fix it, but if not, I guess I'll go back to the traditional midi cables. Thanks . . . .

Never heard of a serial midi connect:confused:
Was the standard midi connect giving you trouble ??

I have a yamaha S03 and I use the keyboard-host serial cable as well. I've never ran into the problem of unnecessary ticks in my midi recordings. You might have a problem with your local switch (the setting on your keyboard that tells your actual keys to trigger sounds)...try switching that to off before you playback any midi recordings. You might also want to check you serial port settings to make sure there is no conflict on the computers end. Sorry I don't have a good definitive quick-fix.

This might be totally off but I had a similar problem a while back. I definately don't know enough about electrical stuff but it wound up being caused because not everything was on the same circuit. So unless you already have your keyboard plugged into the same strip or whatever, I would try that first. Worked for me.
