Hey
i'm looking to get one of these mixers..can anyone throw out input to sway me to one or the other...information about which has the better mic pres, effects, effects capabilities, quality will all help
thanks everyone in advance

Haven't used the Yamaha Mixer. Had a small Beri that I used for pre-amping mics in my home studio--that was a bad judgment call on my part. If that is your price range--pass on the Beri. At the same time, you might also look at the Alesis MultiMix line--which is superior to Behringer but I do not know how the Alesis mixers compare to the Yamaha.
I think Peavey, Soundcraft, and Samson also make mixers in this price range.

Keep in mind also that in the price range we are talking about, manufacturing quality is uneven at best--so any unit you purchase may be chancy.

This is how false rumors get started. Every audio products company, even the much-derided Behringer, has an automated assembly process and quality control to make sure that they're not putting out a good one, then a bad one, a good one, then a bad one. These products are not manufactured in Phillipine sweat shops with a whip-cracking drunken bully standing over teenage girls as they solder away by the light of a single 40 watt bare bulb.

Now to the question.

kch, I strongly recommend that you pass on Behringer in general and stick with Yamaha as they have better mic preamps and better internal build quality. I also recommend spending a little more money and going with this. It has faders instead of knobs, no effects, but two more quality mic preamps and is across the line into the world of pro audio rather than a sophisticated toy...
