I am a little suspicious of the E-MUs, because I have only ever been annoyed by every Creative product I've ever used. I'd rather go for M-Audio ... they make simple, good gear and seem to have solid drivers.
Well I work in IT. I have worked in Q&A (Quality & Assesment) Testing, production, software design, software engineering, training, systems engineering, systems administration, and other odd jobs and ends.
If I had a second computer at home (to play around) I would have gone and put
an E-MU 0404 on my system and test it, worked out the kinks and gotten a pretty good card. As things go, I do not want my system to go down, and I do not want to test my system.
When I can't do the testing, I go with reliability. While it is true that the E-MU has a forum, while Audiophile does not have a forum. The question is why does E-MU even need a forum? A FAQ and a Knowledgebase section should be enough to handle 90% of all users problems.
Is M-Audio perfect and E-MU the devil? No, I don't believe that about anything, or anyone especially corporations which live or die based on their consumers. If E-MU product was crap, they would be out of business or close to it. Anyway, I already went on a tangent in another forum.
I'm very very satisfied with the Delta 44 I like to compare it to the Honda Accord. It may not be the best in the market, nor the most luxurious card in the market. However, for the money it's the most reliable and one of the best performing cards in the market.
