I just bought an MG10/2 mixer to record my drums to PC. For now, I just plan on recording with a couple overhead condenser mics, but in the near future, I would like to close mic my entire kit.

My question is, the 10/2 only has 4 XLR inputs. Would I be able to use an adapter (XLR->Mono 1/4") to connect my non-condenser mics to the stereo inputs on the other channels? I plan on using 8 or 9 of the channels in total once I get everything setup.

Thanks in advance!

Heres a link to the specs in case anyone isn't familiar with this particular mixer:

You'll need pre amps first. those 1/4" ins are for line level.

Ah, excellent. Thanks for clearing that up. So basically I would need to buy an external preamp and run it inline on those channels, and it should work fine? Should I be using mono cables for all of this?
