Yamaha DS-XG..SPDIF available?

I have a Yamaha soundcard in my Dell PC. I'm not sure exactly which soundcard it is, but the parameters in Control Panel show SPDIF as a possibility. I don't see anything on the back of the PC but it sounds like (from the options in Control Panel) it may output SPDIF from the main output jack in lieu of analog audio. Is that possible? I thought digital output had to be either via RCA-type (video) jack or optical.

Any help would be appreciated.

I highly doubt that a consumer soundcard inside a Dell is going to have a digital output but no analog output...
